Cinema Craft Encoder 2.5 SP

Above is what CCE SP looks like when opened up.

This is the version of CCE this guide is designed for.

To Add a file to be encoded you need to right click in the lists area and a option "ADD" will be displayed. (As Shown Above)

CCE can only read .avi, .mov and .dv files standard or .avs (All files) but if you would like to encode from mpg (VOB etc.) please follow the instructions about frameserving HERE. Select the file to be encoded and either double-click or click on Open.

Once the file has been opened it will display the filename under title, the amount of frames and the duration of the movie. You will notice that the image under video has CBR: 6000. This needs to be change for creation of (S)VCD. See svcdhelp for more details on that and about CBR and VBR..

* Use a bitrate calculator to calculate the bitrate required for your (S)VCD creation.

When you get to this screen you have to make some choices CBR or VBR. Once this has been made you need to select the corret boxes for what you want. The Video Information file is not required for CBR and 1 pass VBR so dont bother creating it becuase it is not required.

CCE is poor (pathetic) for audio so I would recommend that you use TMPGEnc with the toolame plugin.

Anti noise doesn't require anything above six and should be set at 2 or 3. Image priority can be set at what you wish but 100 isn't the best. When encoded at this you get a very pixelated image. I prefer set it between 15 and 25 but play around a find the best setting for your needs.

When the Video Informaion File is selected mostly when using multipass is will first gather information usually taking the length of the movie.

The speed how fast it is processing the video. 1 is realtime encoding (25 FPS or 29.9 FPS depending on region).

As for speeds for encoding with CCE I achieve the following

SVCD using AVISynth is achieve a speed of 1-1.2
VCD using AVISynth is achieve a speed of 1.2-1.4
Frameserving from vDub with resize filter only a speed of 0.7 to 0.8

System Specs

AMD Athlon 1800 + XP (1.53 Ghz), 512MB of DDR 2100 RAM, 40 GB Seagate Barra 7200rpm ATA100, Geforce 2 MX400 tv-out, 16 X Sony DVD rom, 16X10X40 liteon CDRWm, With Windows XP Home Edition.

After is creates the information file if selected it will encode the video to a .mpv file. After that if you decided to encode the audio with CCE (Stupid IDEA!!!) it will be a .mpa file. Since CCE doesn't have a multiplexer you will have to do this elsewhere (TMPGEnc->MPEG Tools).
